This panorama of Kaimu - Kalanana was taken on the mid 80’s. It was given to me for Canoes Cafe. I took photos of the pano before I passed the original on to Lyman Museum. Puna Canoe Club canoe on the left.
I’m not seeing as many Elon Trucks around Kona these days. Don’t know if it’s shame or just because they are crappy trucks.
I saw Blazing Saddles at the theater when I came out. It’s still awesome and the off color humor is still there.
Temptation Island is filming at the resort I work at. It’s a large production. Over 300 crew. They’ve been preparing for over a month and started filing yesterday. Dog and pony show.
Watching an old PBS Hawaii Show about the single wall construction Hawaiian plantation home. Every house I lived in growing up was just like this.
The only multi-day, multi-stage music festival I’ve been to was Diamond head crater festivals. Been twice to Waiki’i music festival, 2 days. Been to a number single day events. All of the posts on Burning man made me think of it, that’s a cultural event and not what it used to be
Watching PBS Hawaii classics Na Mele from. 1974 about the musical legacy of the Kalākaua family. Songs that are still played to this day
Went for a walk down at Keauhou. Even though I work at the resort there, it’s still great morning Walk. The birthplace of King Kamehameha III. Those 2 fishing canoes in the lower right have been on the grass there for at least 40 years that I know of.
Listening to Ferrara and Franchini from 1920. There were the dominant Hawaiian Steel performers of the early 1900s.
