After the Pu`ukohola Heiau and Spencer Beach Park, we decide to go up the road 20 more miles to Hawi for lunch, coffee and some shopping. Lunch at Kohala Grown Market was awesome. 100+ mile road trip was what the Dr ordered
After the Heiau we went next door to Samuel M Spencer beach park. Named after a Judge and county supervisor from the early 1900s. Haven’t been here since we moved out of Waimea in 2008. Great place for camping and family functions
Today’s adventure was going to the Pu`ukohola Heiau S of Kawaihae. Many Hawaiians consider it the capital of Hawaii Island. There are other Heiau on this site, but this is the primary one. The visitor center is nice and they have a great video. I haven’t been here for 20+ years.

The latest season of Temptation Island was filmed at the hotel I work at and all over Hawai’i Island. Never seen it. My wife came across it on one of the channels. We tried watching to see the sets etc, it’s an unwatchable show.
The US media is complicit. I have a hard time getting bothered that they are geting kcicked out the White House tall tale sessions. Change my mind by reporting the protests in every state.
My Dad was lobbyist in Hawaii representing small local businesses. He would get copies of bills in the legislature during session. He would give my brothers and I “keywords” to look for in bills. We’d each get a stack. We were his early form of search engine.
Arguing with MAGA
My wife and her oldest son (very MAGA) had a Donnybrook. They avoid talking politics for this reason. Listening to his postulations was difficult. It’s the same talking points as on FOX. 1. Give it time 2. He’ll make American great again.
My rebuttal, I asked him if he took any economics in college? Because I did and there will be a tipping point where the economy will slide too far down a slippery slope to just bounce back. Plus the broken relationships with trade partners will need more than a simple sorry. I then asked when was this supposed great time in America? Based on the history I know of America and the world before, there was never a magical time. Every period of time has had challenges.
Maybe a lot of people are just trying to blame society for poor decisions they made in their own lives. There was no magical Shanghai-la time when everyone had it easy. Quite the contrary

Interesting tidbit. Both iKona and The Blahlas of Keaukaha have albums with the same name; Ka Lua O Ka Manawa which means The Second Time. Bernard Kalua was in both groups and it was the 2nd album for both.
I save my recordings as a complete album with no breaks (side 1 / side 2). Then I do a 2nd version where I break out the tracks.
Guess I’m kind of lucky. I don’t have an addictive personality. No drugs.no gaming. I can have one drink bcause I like the taste of good Irish whisky, a cool lager on a hot day, a Guinness just because or a slightly chilled Beaujolais. Don’t need the latest tech. Really do like a good nap though.
