Growing up in Hawaii, at least most of us of a certain age are just more tolerant of other Peoples ways. We knew the way the Filipinos or Chinese or Japanese or the Pacific Islanders celebrated or mourned & worshiped (there were a few other races in the Frey too. We said, it’s not our way, but it’s fine. They can go do it their way. We all came back together after and carried on. If they wanted to talk about it, cool, if not, cool.

I grew up during the Cold War. The USSR was the evil empire. Since the break up, I’ve met a lot of greet people from Russia, but now, seeing what’s being done in Ukraine, I can’t help but to think Evil empire again.
