Hearing Alana I Kai Hikina on KWXX reminds me, when I had Canoes Cafe I was a sponsor. They would give me a cassette tape of each weekly show and I would play it in the cafe. e ola mau ka ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi
Weʻre looking to retire to Sonoma Ca. Just saw this fact: Sonoma County, California: 1,575.6 square miles. Hawaiʻi Island (The Big Island): 4,028 square miles. Hawaiʻi Island is roughly two and a half times the size of Sonoma County. Sonoma population about 488K, Hawaii island 209K
This has never happened. Got a phone message (phone call) from Hawaii County Civil defense about a Hilo road closure. Must be new
We put this in the refrigerator to celebrate Hillary’s victory. Well it was stolen. Then held on to it and we’re going to open it when Kamala won. Well it was stolen. Thinking it gets opened when Trump dies. It’s a lower bar, but whatever

We have so much glassware and coffee mugs that we’ve accumulated through the years. It is unlikely most of them will go with us in our next move. My more prized ones are the long gone South Pacific Lager and Territorial tavern (Booga Booga & Sons of Hawaii)
My wife accidentally broke this mug that I’ve had since the 80s. Likely weakened by years of dishwashing.
It’s kind of a metaphor for the my relationship with the Dodgers and their MAGA owner.

Came across this dinner menu for Black Orchid Restaurant from the 80s. I was able to later hook up with the owner Randy Schoch when he opened Macaroni Grill Waikoloa. I managed Sunset Grill and Rose City Diner at Restaurant Row. Paul Robotti was the “Row Barʻ guy. Fun times.
Seeing this flooding in Hanalei reminded me of the time we had the HCRA state paddling championships in Hanalei. The road was closed due to flooding. We were all going to miss our flights. Hawaiian did the right thing and brought planes back after the road opened. We all got home (Hilo) that day.
This hotel is the Marriott Waikoloa resort I managed the F&B department there before Covid. It was a toxic environment so I didn’t go back. Was recalling when this was the Outrigger Royal Waikoloan hotel. Those were fun times, great memories

When I worked up the Kohala coast, used to stop at one of 3 SBux on my way out of Kona for a gap between home and work. Really liked that quiet time. I work so close to home now, won’t likely go back to that

This is so Anaeho’omalu bay. I could go on for hours about my history at this beach from even before I moved here.

When we were in Honolulu last week and we drove by Restaurant Row my mind went back. I really miss Studebakers and Black Orchid. I was the opening manager at Rose City Diner. The manager from Studebakers, Dana Duden, ended up at Big Island Steakhouse in Waikoloa. We used to hang out a lot.
