Talked to a couple tonight from Orange County Ca - Siad they were a blue dot in red Orange Co. They are both scientists. He a biologist, she a physist. We shared how appalled we are about what’s happening to science in the current enviroment. Common ground

My Dad

My Father, Richard Botti passed 8 years ago. He was an advocate and lobbyist for over 1000 Hawaii businesses for 40+ yrs. He was also a nerd. Built his own computers, amplifiers, tuners, speakers and furniture. Bought a used printing press and learned how to fix it and use it to print newsletters. He invested in good cameras to photograph. Later video equipment. He also built his own production studio and learned how to use it rather than pay big bucks for presentations at conferences. As a kid he made time to build Viet Nam era ship and plane models with me. My Dad was not a sports fan, but umpired my little league games. He instilled me with work ethic and solution finding skills. I miss his counsel when I hit a speed bump.

Reading this dissertation on “Technological features of preservation systems that support the authenticity of digital records.” It dawned on me that DOGE likely turned this on it’s head. We can no longer maintain an intellectual order of any federal records.

I have used the Job to Be done theory since I first read the book 20+ years ago. Use if for everything from buying clothes to appliances to a car. It’s saved me a lot of money.

In 2005 I was the West Hawaii sales manager for KWXX/B97 radio. I was also very involved in outrigger canoe paddling at this time. I took this photo for a flyer I gave to give to my clients. The caption said “always working for you”

AI in my browser isn’t smart enough to know when I don’t want a paragraph description, I just want a choice of websites.

Watching the series “Say Nothing” about the Irish Troubles. Slightly less depressing than what’s going on in the US.

Trump took us into war because we’re fighting back, his parade was a joke and he wants us to forget about his big ugly bill.

Was recalling business travel in the 80s when I managed at TGI Fridays. There was a corporate travel agency in Dallas that would send a letter with travel itinerary, tickets for all segments, ground transportation and accommodation info. I’ve gotten pretty good at booking but miss the old way.

We get promos from Spectrum often twice a week because we dropped their unreliable internet. After awhile it’s no cute anymore

I have fouund many things that really annoyed me when I was younger donʻt bother me anymore. Then Trump came along and gave me a whole bunch of new things to be be mad at.

Iʻve been slowly falling out of love with Apple, but currenly the best solution of what I use technolgy for. They would have to fall pretty for me to drop them, by then I likely wonʻt want to need that level of tech.

I was having an email discussion with the lead Archivist at the Hawaii state archive whose team is archiving Hawaiian music from the early 1900s. He sent me a link to his dissertation on “Technological features of preservation systems that support the authenticity of digital records.” Fascinating
