Called back some of the contacts we made in Sonoma/Napa over the last week. It’s liking going to take us a year to wind down our lives in Hawaii. We know there’ll be no take backs.
They’ve installed a lot of roundabouts in Sonoma, Napa and even Oakland, seems as though no one explained to people how they work. It’s a clusterfuck in most of them. When we were in Ireland they know how roundabouts work. It was seamless.
This living wall at Oakland airport is awesome. I spotted a few plants I recognized right away. Anthuriums for one. A nice diversion in TSA lines.
Observation during travel in Sonoma/Napa. Most of the cars on the road are small/mid-sized cars. There are lot of work trucks, but stand at any intersection or look at a long line of cars on the highway, mostly sedans
Three messages from Southwest(so far). Boarding time being moved progressively later. Layover in Honolulu getting shorter and shorter.
Here we are. It was a great week in Sonoma and Napa. Not tasting wine, though we did drink some, but time with family and scouting places to live. Really fell in love with the community in Napa. St Helena is a a great little town 5 min away
Our dynamic is my step son and his fiancé had a 1 yo. His fiancé has 3 kids from prior. So we have 4 grandchildren here in Sonoma. Hence, a major part of the pull.

It’s been foggy in Sonoma the first 3 mornings we’ve been here. Today crystal clear and crispy cold.

The really only strange thing for me today in Petaluma was a customer in a Panda Express ordering in Spanish and the worker answering in Spanish
What I’ve told people here in California when they are confused about why I want to move from Hawaii, where I grew up. I can spend my final years (maybe 20) doing the same things I’ve done for the last 35 yrs on Hawaii Island or come to California and have a whole bunch of new adventures.
