Recalled something when I saw this. Andy Cummings was a friend of my ex Father-in-Law (RIP) who worked at Hawaiian Air for years. Andy Cummings also worked at Hawaiian in Sales prommotion. Andy would be over at his house now and then and they would sit on the porch and wax poetic for hours.

Hawaii Electric Light Company has been slowing replacing wooden poles with concrete since the Lahaina fire. I’ve heard Lahaina will be all concrete poles. This is the first one on Alii Drive in Kona. Noticed it had a label. Interesting.

Came across this gem from 1960 from the Hilo Hawaiians. I met Bunny Brown in Hilo. I worked with his sons who played (The Browns) at a restaurant that I maanged in Hilo (Fiascos). I got a deal on this album with the 58 page booklet. It’s a keeper.
Came acrross this album researching Hawaii Island based musicians from the 60s. Never heard of the Kona Inn Kanes. They were previously the Kauai Islanders before becoming the house band at Kona Inn. Some interesting arrangements of traditional mele. interesting description of their sound.
