I really want a recordng of this. When I’m in Honolulu next, I’m going to stop by KGU radio to see if they have a copy.

Frank Ferera, Born in Honolulu: June 12, 1885 of Portuguese ancestry. Of all Hawaiian recordings made between 1915 and 1930, it is said that Frank Ferera appeared on at least a 1/4 of them. Some of the estimated 2,000 discs he cut remain available on Hawaiian CD compilations to this day. Amazing

I’ve been listening to almost entirely Hawaiian music. Apple Music’s algorithm doesn’t recognize that and pushes everything else. Could be that most of my music didn’t come from Apple but from albums, CDs and music archives.
This playlist is so old school I feel like a your kid listening to it.
Recently stumbled upon this album. The Makapu’u Sand Band with Iaukea Bright. I met him when he had a show on KCCN. His moniker was “The Kapahulu Common Mango”. Down home island music. music.apple.com/us/album/…

I’ve been able to source 3 albums of The Polynesians. They were active in the late 30s on the mainland playing with Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald. They merged Hawaiian and Jazz with their smooth harmomies. They recored 28 albums between 1957 and 1967 on Crown Records
This Frank Lloyd Wright house in S. Kohala was built in 1992-95. My Naighbor in Waimea was the mason. I used go by when he was working in it. It ws amazing to watch him do the work.
I’ve cancelled all of the news and info emails I get except the Atlantic. Most are trusted sources, but they all say the same thing: basically we’re fucked. I don’t need to read that more than once a day.
Annoyances of the day. I only go to Starbucks due to laziness or for convenience, but when you are behind someone who has to read the whole menu, the quick in a quick cup of coffee came and left. Also when did pastrami become $20/pound. WTF. It’s beef
