The Honolulu Rail boondoggle is challenging Boston’s Big Dig for ineptness. it will be built, but no one knows the final cost. As it stands, they shorted the route to save money, it’s not working.
There was just a brushfire across the street from us. They got it out quick, but everyone is on pins and needles after Lahaina. Luckily, it’s dead still, not a wisp of a breeze
Shut down my website this month. I’ve had a website since 1999. That first site was for my Cafe, Canoes Cafe. It was simple, but did the job. My next site was first built in 2006 for my web and social media company. All told, I built about 50 websites for local businesses. My last site was a personal site. End of an era.
My ancestor Andrew Kimbley was born in Holland in 1737. Came to the colonies, Married (1773), settled in Virginia, fought in the Virginia Militia during the Revolutionary war. Joined The George Rogers Clark expedition to Kentucky (1778 - took his family) to attack 2 British forts in Illinois and settle Kentucky. Andrew was one of the founding fathers of Louisville and his 2nd son, born on Corn island (1779) was the first white male born West of the Appalachians. In 1792 Andrew served in an expedition against the Wabash Indians
Here’s the best part, in 1804, after 25 hard years in Jefferson and Nelson Counties, he picked up the family and moved to Mulenburg County, described as almost unbroken wilderness, he bought 400 acres of wild land on the banks of the Green River to establish a farm and homestead. He was 67 years old. He lived until 1824. I’m 64, I better start looking for a farm or something.

Watching the CBS sports special ‘Football Must Go On’ about Shakhtar Donetsk from Ukraine.
We take going out and watching or playing a football match for granted. youtu.be/4ZrdSXjr_…
Found this photo from my first COVID test. April 2020. it was drive-thru test with very strict rules. Mask were hard to come by, had a homemade mask.
Had eye surgery and needed a test 2 days before surgery date.

Took this photo Oct 11, 2005 in Waimea on Hawaii Island. Taken on a Canon EOS 20D. The last purpose built camera I’ve owned. My wife and I had just moved into our former home in Waimea and were married the following year.

Really enjoyed the Continental on Peacock. Had a few slow points, but all in all it was great entertainment
Recalling younger days when nothing could knock me down.
Here in my mid 60s, it wouldn’t take much to knock me out of the game. One of my wonky knees or shoulders or some other internal function gone awry. Traverse life much more carefully these days
Fascinating. If I recall correctly, the rotating space station in 2001 Space Odyssey didn’t have windows.
I’ve watched and read a couple of interviews with respected older conservatives. If you listen with an open mind they do make some sense, 40 years ago, but that ship has sailed. Immigrants have proliferated society and aren’t going away. The environment is, well, broken. Society doesn’t want to go backward on personal rights. That whole MAGA mantra is for who and what context? Great for the white plantation owners?
Finally had enough of Eric Clapton’s politics after helping raise $2.2 mil for RFK Jr tonight. Deleted all of his music from my library and local back up. I really did like 461 Ocean Blvd, but he’s been sliding down that slope for quite a while.
