After an almost 6 hour delay, we’re on our way. A 5 hour flight and 2 hour drive ahead. Oh, the runway works
They have finally cleared the last of the equipment off of the runway in Kona. A Honolulu flights has boarded. Our Sacramento flight is next. An Alaska flight is boarded on the other side. Nothing has landed yet. We’ll see at 2:00
We weighed the option of going home or going up to my step son’s place in Kona Palisades during the 5 hours late delay. Decided to stay at Kona airport. There’s a nice breeze. Had an expensive burger at Umeke’s. Didn’t relish going back through security, etc. I did thank the TSA for coming to work
Just heard Kona runway not opening until 2pm. Our flight will a min of 5 hours late. Not optimal. Will get to Sacramento about 11pm. Still have to drive to Rohnert park.
My wife and I have traveled to many times, we have good pre, during and post trip routines. Who books what, who packs what, who carries what. Hotel routines, all of it. Less stressful travel.
Flood advisory for Kona. Kona does not handle lots of rain. Large puddles all over. Alii drive is so close to sea level they can’t do drainage, so the water pools up.
Stopped by Clover and Mug’s new Keauhou Shopping Center location. Very Ono. Great coffee and an Ham and Swiss panini.
It’s pretty common knowledge here, but Hawaiian Ocean View Estates in Ka’u is the largest subdivision on the US. 18 sq mi, 11,500 acres, 150 miles of roads, 11,500+ 1 acre lots. much of the mauka area is the wild west. Suggested you don’t go above the cloud line if have no business there.
My wife of 19 years has “managed” ADHD. The first few years I tried to keep up. At some point I realized it’s pointless. She gets up from her desk or the sofa and just starts cleaning or just to move around. I had to learn to just let it go. It just works.
KTA Kailua has best pastries and donuts in Kona town. Used to be better bakeries, but they’re all gone
