Waimea Starbucks was slamming, the Cherry Blossoms not in full bloom, but starting. There was a Bansai exhibition and Taiko drummers at the Hongwanji. The weather was cool and mostly dry (a little drizzle) All in all an awesome day
Before the Cherry Blossom Festival we went to the Parker Ranch Historic Homes. Lots of amazing history, a Japanese tea ceremony. This original Mana House. A typewriter and adding machine and the garage.
Tops Hoagies was on corner of Pico and Lincoln in Santa Monica, and is a Starbucks now. It was Tops Pastrami and Burgers in the 70s and morphed to Hoagie Sanwwiches in 80s. They were open 24 hrs. You’d see a lot of Hollywood types in the wee hours. I got off at 3am, TGI Fridays Marina Del Rey.
I was jonesing for a cheesesteak sandwich like I used to get and Tops Hoagies is Santa Monica. I cooked a large top sirloin steak in a slow cooker for 6 hours with spices, onion and poblano pepper. Put the shredded sirloin on a hoagie roll with sautéed pepper and onions and white cheddar. Yum yum
