Joseph Kekuku invented the Hawaiian Steel guitar approx 1890 much by accident. He shared it with his cousin Iolai (July) Paka before they both moved to the mainland. The earliest Hawaiian recordings in 1908 didnt have Steel Guitar. It wasnʻt until Paka recorded the 1st Steel Guitar song in 1915
