Looking through this Kaka`ako masterplan from 2008. Seems off track. Very few affordable housing options in the district. Walkable Auahi St. promenade ???. The Mauka / Makai view planes don’t seem to line up. We’ll see, not likely my lifetime. Kaka’ako was central part of life in Honolulu

I’ve had Netflix continuously since about 2000. We’re going to cancel it for a few months. It’s cost has creeped above its value.

Just looking over the monthly bills spreadsheet that my wife manages. Netflix is our most expensive streaming service, not sure it’s holding its value. We pay more for the Apple bundle and Disney, Hulu, ESPN. But use iCloud and Music and all 3 of the Disney bundle.
We went to Kaka’ako Waterfront park Sunday before we flew out. I looked mauka and saw 4 construction cranes. There will be more when Ward Center is demolished. You won’t be able to see the mountain when those are all built and people mauka won’t see the ocean. A wall of buildings.

We’ve been to three protests. I’m not inclined to do anymore until I see democrats in congress do something more than some symbolic BS.
Also noticed on O’ahu, food trucks everywhere and a number of food trucks events. Sometimes we just wanted to sit down and eat, and not on a dirty picnic table.
They typically need a support kitchen to do their prep. Home kitchens not allowed.

Hawaii State parks used to be the cleanest and best maintained, county parks were notch below. That has flipped. State parks have fallen off and things stay broken for months. County park are looking better. Saw the same thing on O`ahu
They must be in some kind of transition. The entire check in process at HNL, Hawaiian and TSA, was kind of a mess. It wasn’t even that busy.
My wife was shopping at Northface Ala Moana, and I struck up a conversation with one of the staff, Stu. What an amazing conversation. Another local boy. We talked for 30 min. Great guy, lots in common. You never know.
Great way to end a busy O’ahu weekend. I knew almost immediately that I could never live here again. Too many people, buildings and cars for me
Chilling at Kaka’ako waterfront watching tug boats do their thing. I came here a lot when it was first built before I moved to Hawaii island. This was an old landfill
